Olivia Plender & Ciprian Mureşan discuss TINA (2008)
What’s on in October
Join us on Tuesday 25th July for the sixth event in our year long series inviting artists to look back over 20 years of programming at Drawing Room. TINA (2008) was a prescient project initiated by artist Olivia Plender, inspired by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s maxim, ‘there is no alternative’ (TINA for short), meaning that in her opinion global free market capitalism is the only tenable economic theory.
In a time of political turmoil in which Thatcher’s creed of individualism has really come home to roost we revisit the themes and enquiry of TINA, with exhibiting artists Olivia Plender and Ciprian Mureşan in conversation with Drawing Room Co-Director, Kate Macfarlane.
These talks celebrate the 20th anniversary of Drawing Room as we prepare to move to our new permanent home in Bermondsey. We need your support to help us move – find out more about how you can support us by clicking here.

Welcome Hugh!
We are delighted to welcome Hugh Smyth to our team for the next 6 weeks, as part of our partnership with Camberwell College of Arts.
Hugh, a year 3, BA Drawing student, will be working alongside our engagement team on the research and delivery of projects within our local neighbourhood as part of his placement. He’s already got stuck in by supporting the celebration of our Drawing Act IV publication at Coin Street Community Builders.
We look forward to the next 6 weeks working together!
