6 weeks for dads
Welcome to the first week of a new UK Government – one which pledged in its Manifesto to review the UK parental leave system in its first year in power!
We now have a real opportunity to bring about change for Britain’s fathers. And Sir Keir Starmer’s recent comments about keeping Friday evenings free for family time suggest that the new Prime Minister takes fatherhood seriously, which is encouraging news.
But the hard work of achieving a better deal for dads starts here, and we need your help.

Pantosaurus has helped 1.5 million parents Talk PANTS and keep their children safe from sexual abuse.
Developed in consultation with children, parents, carers and teachers, Talk PANTS is here to help children understand their body belongs to them, and they should tell a safe adult they trust if anything makes them feel upset or worried.
Learning how to use the potty independently and stopping wearing nappies is a big milestone for your child. There are lots of new and exciting skills for them to learn with your help.
To make this process easier for you both, follow our evidence-based 3 step Let’s Go Potty approach.
It begins with preparation to use the potty, next is practising potty skills before eventually stopping using nappies as your child gains confidence.
Nell Gwynn Nursery School is collaborating with a team of child psychologists and neuroscientists from Brightlobe who is conducting a NHS-approved study to validate a new iPad game to assess neurodevelopment in young children. The ultimate goal of the research is to provide the practitioners with an easy-to-use and effective tool to inform them of children’s strengths and challenges and help making diagnosis of neurodevelopmental conditions much quicker and easier. This tool is going to help the NHS shorten the assessment waiting lists and benefit the children in need and their families.
They are currently looking for 3 to 5 year olds with a diagnosis of autism, global developmental delay, communication disorder and/or ADHD, to play the iPad game and tell them what they think about it. Participation involves (1) parents giving permission and completing a questionnaire and (2) children playing the games (taking 45-55 minutes) at school.
Please see https://bit.ly/3hYYeBf for the details of the study and sign up if you are interested. Up to 2 x £10 gift vouchers are received for taking part. Thank you for your participation.
