Happy International Women’s Day 2022!
As set out on the IWD2022 website, there’s so much work to be done, on so many fronts, if we are to build a gender-equal world. Here at the Fatherhood Institute, we’re unashamedly committed to gender equality: it’s a principle that underpins everything we do.
We’re also clear in our minds that it’s ONLY by designing father-inclusion into research, policy and practice, that many of the gender inequalities we all face, will reduce.
So to mark #IWD2022 we’re taking the opportunity to share some details of ways you can support women by supporting our work. Whatever you’re up to today, we wish you all the best!
Join the PIECE Talks
The Fatherhood Institute and researchers from the University of Leeds are running a series of online discussion events (‘PIECE Talks’) with fathers, mothers and education practitioners in May 2022. So if you fall into any of those three groups, please take a look and consider sharing your ideas and experiences with us. We are offering £25 vouchers to compensate participants for their time. Find out more here.
While we’re on the subject, our Fathers and Children’s Learning Survey is open until the end of March. Please share it! Here’s the link.

Very few dads are in a position to take shared parental leave, but one such is Dr Mark Gatto, a lecturer at Northumbria University Newcastle Business School. Mark has kindly agreed to share his experiences of taking almost six months’ leave during his new baby’s first year, in our new podcast, The Daddy Leave Diaries, out now. We’ll be posting new episodes roughly ten times in his baby’s first year. Here’s the link to the podcast home page: you can listen via Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
